Mechanical Specifications and Engine Options 

The 2026 Ford Escape is manufactured with four distinct powertrain options. These options allow for different levels of power output and fuel consumption based on the mechanical requirements of the driver. 

• 1.5 Liter EcoBoost Engine: This is a turbocharged three-cylinder engine. It produces 180 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. It serves as the standard engine for base utility. 

• 2.0 Liter EcoBoost Engine: This turbocharged four-cylinder engine provides 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with this engine, the vehicle has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. 

• 2.5 Liter Hybrid Powertrain: This system combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor. The total system output is 192 horsepower. This configuration is designed to reduce frequent stops for refueling. 

• 2.5 Liter Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) Powertrain: This system generates a total of 210 horsepower. It includes a battery that allows the vehicle to travel up to 37 miles using only electricity before the gasoline engine is required. 

All models include selectable drive modes. These modes adjust the mechanical response of the vehicle to suit different road surfaces or environmental conditions. 

Interior Dimensions and Features 

The interior of the 2026 Ford Escape focuses on cabin space and digital utility. The vehicle is designed to accommodate passengers and cargo through adjustable seating components. 

The second-row seats are mounted on a sliding track. This allows the seats to move backward to provide an additional 5.9 inches of legroom for passengers. Alternatively, the seats can be moved forward or folded down to increase storage capacity. In the EcoBoost models, the maximum cargo volume is 65.4 cubic feet when the rear seats are not in use. 

The dashboard contains the SYNC 4 infotainment system. The standard configuration includes an 8-inch center display screen. A larger 13.2-inch screen is available on higher trim levels. This system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other interior features available on certain trims include a panoramic Vista Roof, heated front seats, and a wireless charging pad for mobile devices. 

Safety Systems and Driver Assistance 

The 2026 Ford Escape includes Ford Co-Pilot360 technology. This is a collection of electronic driver assist features intended to help maintain vehicle safety. 

• Adaptive Cruise Control: This system uses sensors to maintain a set distance from the vehicle directly ahead. It can bring the car to a complete stop and resume movement in traffic. 

• Blind Spot Information System (BLIS): This feature alerts the driver if another vehicle is located in the blind spot areas to the side of the SUV. 

• Lane-Keeping System: This technology monitors lane markings. It provides steering assistance to help keep the vehicle within its designated lane. 

• Rear Cross-Traffic Alert: This system detects vehicles approaching from the side while the SUV is in reverse. 

Additional available features include a 360-degree camera system for a full view of the vehicle’s surroundings and a head-up display that projects data onto the windshield. 

Available Trim Levels 

The 2026 Ford Escape is organized into several trim levels. Each level changes the standard equipment and visual details of the vehicle. 

1. Active: This trim uses the 1.5 Liter EcoBoost engine and 17-inch wheels. 

2. ST-Line: This model features 18-inch Rock Metallic wheels and red interior stitching. 

3. ST-Line Select: This version offers the 2.0 Liter EcoBoost or 2.5 Liter Hybrid engine and uses 19-inch wheels. 

4. Plug-In Hybrid: This is a front-wheel-drive model using the 2.5 Liter PHEV engine. It achieves 101 combined MPGe. 

5. Platinum: This trim includes ActiveX seating material and the 13.2-inch touchscreen as standard. 

6. ST-Line Elite: This is the highest trim level. It includes the 360-degree camera and an external LED light bar.
